TOM DENNIS
Tom Dennis is a versatile jazz pianist whose style is defined by melodic solo lines and sophisticated reharmonizations of familiar melodies. His taste in composers ranges from Gershwin to Bacharach. Tom is Professor of Music at Oakland Community College, he currently performs as a solo pianist, a sideman to some of Detroit’s finest vocalists, and as the pianist in Detroit’s own traditional swing band, the Rhythm Society Orchestra.
SANDRA BOMAR QUARTET
A native Detroiter and an internationally known jazz artist, Sandra received a musical
scholarship from the University of Massachusetts, and has also studied voice under
legendary artists such as Sheila Jordan, Dr. Billy Taylor, Alma Smith and Dr. Yusef Lateef. Sandra Bomar’s voice has been influenced by greats such as Nancy
Wilson, Sarah Vaughn, Phyllis Hyman, Gloria Lynne and Dinah Washington.
She has established herself as a notable jazz stylist whose sultry voice can be heard
around the Metro Detroit area in venues such as Baker’s Keyboard Lounge, the
DIA, Bert’s Place, the Dirty Dog Jazz Café, Aretha’s Jazz Cafe,
Nikolas, Omara’s and many others.
Sandra has also performed at the Detroit Jazz festival, the Toronto Jazz Festival and the Michigan Jazz Festival as well as the legendary Greenmill in Chicago, Il and as well a tour of the United Kingdom. She has also performed in the stage production of Cheek to Cheek. She has also performed with big bands led by trumpeters Gary Greenfelder and Johnny Trudell. DOUG BROWN
Douglas Brown is a multi-talented eclectic artist. His roots are in Blues, R&B, Jazz, Rock, and Folk. Douglas has played with acts local, national, and international. He has played with artists as varied as Chuck Berry, North Star (a band consisting of members of Smokey Robinson's backup band), The Four Tops, Martha Reeves, Tommy Bolin, Norma Bell, Spyder Turner, The Garfield Blues Band, Koko Taylor, Mighty Joe Young, Dennis Coffey, jazz great Cameron Brown, free jazz artist Faruk Z Bey, jazz master Billy Heart. He occasionally performs with his daughter Sari Brown and can be heard on one of the tracks from her new release “The Holy Broken Heart”. Sometimes, he gigs with his son, Andrew Brown of Djangophonique and Appleseed Collective fame. He currently plays in the Detroit and Ann Arbor area as a solo artist, in small groups and with the powerhouse 12 piece soul-funk band “Skyline and the Backstreet Horns”.
DAWN GIBLIN DUO
ocalist Dawn Giblin concentrates here on her real love, the 1920s – 1940s jazz and popular music that gave the whole world a huge fantastic repertoire through the singing of Connee Boswell, Billie Holiday, Mildred Bailey and Ella Fitzgerald. “Dawn is a trained vocalist, but she doesn’t let that interfere with her down-home swing, her love for the blues, her sly humor, her deep feelings that come through her wide repertoire. Dawn draws on a wide variety of expert musicians to create engaging music that’s always melodic, groovy, and sweet.” Michael Steinman – Jazz Lives. Joining Dawn is Guitarist Colton Weatherston. Colton plays jazz and swing guitar with a style influenced by Charlie Christian, Django Reinhardt, and Wes Montgomery.Also appearing is Chris Tabaczynski. Chris is a versatile woodwind doubler who specializes in traditional jazz from the 1910’s-50’s. Chris is a member of Phil Ogilvie’s Rhythm Kings, The Easy Street Jazz Band, The Planet D Nonet and The Kerrytown Stompers in addition to being the leader of his own group, The Wolverines. He is a devotee of Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, Sidney Bechet, Jimmie Noone, Johnny Dodds, Bix Beiderbecke, Frank Trumbauer, Adrian Rollini and many more

Malone. Paul has performed with jazz greats Joe Williams, Cab Calloway, Marian McPartland,
Barry Harris, Jeff Hamilton, Benny Golson, Benny Green, Jon Hendricks, Wycliff Gordon,
Mulgrew Miller, Jay McShann and James Moody. He has played on over 50 CDs with artists
such as Larry Vuckovich, Eddie Higgins, and Marcus Belgrave.
Paul was honored by the West Michigan Jazz Society as their 2001 Jazz Musician of the Year
and by the Detroit Music Awards as the 2002 Outstanding Jazz Instrumentalist. Keller is on the
faculty of the Wayne State University jazz department in Detroit. He travels frequently, giving
jazz concerts, workshops and clinics and is well-respected as an innovative and enthusiastic
jazz educator.
