BILL HEID TRIO

Bill Heid is an American soul jazz and hard bop jazz pianist and organist, born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, probably better known for his work with musicians such as Koko Taylor, Henry Johnson and Fenton Robinson, among others.

Bill Heid came of age in the crucible that was Pittsburgh in its jazz heyday, hanging out at legendary Hill District clubs like the Hurricane Bar and the Crawford Grill. All the jazz greats regularly played in town back in the sixties and young Bill took every opportunity to sit in and learn from these masters. In addition to the many musicians passing through town during that period, Pittsburgh had produced some of the greatest names in jazz “Ahmad Jamal, Art Blakey, Errol Garner, George Benson, Eddie Jefferson, Mary Lou Williams, Stanley Turrentine, to name a few, all called Pittsburgh their hometown.

SKY COVINGTON

Native Detroiter and 7 time Detroit Music Award Recipient for "Outstanding Jazz Vocalist" Sky Covington is a singer/songwriter. Sky Covington has a rich, elegant tone and an easy vibrato - think Billie Holiday, as well as Abbey Lincoln and Sarah Vaughan - Covington's best noted for her rendition of the Billie Holiday Tribute for 20 years. This sultry chanteuse makes everynote seem personal, and her phrasing is unique, and deep. Sky Covington is a traditional jazz vocalist, of yester-year.

Ivory Steel Duo is one of the most exciting and dynamic musical groups in the metro Detroit area. Composed of veteran touring and recording keyboardist Moe Whitsett, and the versatile up-and-coming guitarist Daniel Peter, the duo brings energy and life to any social atmosphere. Their musical repertoire includes all genres from the 1960s to modern day, and their spontaneous, improvisational arrangements of popular music makes each performance distinct and memorable. Ivory Steel Duo has performed at countless theaters, restaurants, schools, parties, weddings, and churches throughout their career. Their unique sound and ability to adapt to any environment has allowed them to connect with people of all ages and backgrounds.
