Brett Lucas started his professional musical career in his late teems as a guitarist performing in Blues clubs in Detroit and with some of Detroit’s legendary Blues performers. Since then, Brett has performed on stages across the world including Carnegie Hall, Montreux Jazz Festival, Austin City Limits, Conan O’Brien Show, The Jay Leno Show and The Late Show with David Letterman. Brett has toured extensively throughout the United States, Europe, Australia, Japan, Africa and South America.

KEVIN KOZOL
Kevin Kozol is a pianist, composer and educator based in Chicago, IL. He is one the founding members of the jazz fusion trio, Spare Parts, who are currently signed to Ropeadope Records. The trio's last album, "Warehaus West Sessions, Vol.1," which received 5/5 stars in UK Vibe, features Fareed Haque, Bill Dickens and Rajiv Halim. Spare Parts is currently working on their 7th studio recording, which will be released on Ropeadope Records later in 2019. Spare Parts has performed major festivals and venues both nationally and internationally over the years, including Peru Jazz Festival (Lima), Chi-Town Jazz Festival, Jazz Showcase, Andy's Jazz Club, Dazzle Jazz, Summer Camp Music Festival, Wakarusa Music Festival, House of Blues, Metro, and Congress Theater to name a few. Over the years, Spare Parts has opened and shared the stage with musicians/artists such as Wayne Krantz, Keith Carlock, Victor Wooten, George Clinton, Lenny Pickett, Marco Benevento, Stanton Moore, Liquid Soul, The Jazz Mandolin Project and even Snoop Dogg.

LIZ SMITH QUARTET
Jazz vocalist Liz Smith has been an active member of the Detroit music scene for many years. Classically trained but always a true jazz head, she made her debut as a young adolescent, and worked her way through the clubs and bars throughout the metro area, finding her way into such venues as Baker's Keyboard Lounge and Cliff Bell's Jazz & Blues Club. Today she holds a regular standing with her trio every Thursday night at Goodnite Gracie Jazz & Martini Bar in Royal, and is a regular performer at The London Chophouse and Willis Show Bar in Detroit, Vinotecca Wine Bar in downtown Birmingham, Lily Pearl's Lounge in Owosso, and many others. A 2018 Detroit Music Award nominee, her rich vocals bring an old-world feel; her sound often compared to that of the early American jazz icons of the thirties and forties.

Paul is well known for his associations with pianist/vocalist Diana Krall and guitarist Russell
Malone. Paul has performed with jazz greats Joe Williams, Cab Calloway, Marian McPartland,
Barry Harris, Jeff Hamilton, Benny Golson, Benny Green, Jon Hendricks, Wycliff Gordon,
Mulgrew Miller, Jay McShann and James Moody. He has played on over 50 CDs with artists
such as Larry Vuckovich, Eddie Higgins, and Marcus Belgrave.
Paul was honored by the West Michigan Jazz Society as their 2001 Jazz Musician of the Year
and by the Detroit Music Awards as the 2002 Outstanding Jazz Instrumentalist. Keller is on the
faculty of the Wayne State University jazz department in Detroit. He travels frequently, giving
jazz concerts, workshops and clinics and is well-respected as an innovative and enthusiastic
jazz educator.

DAVE VESSELLA QUARTET
Trumpet player, vocalist, composer, and arranger, Dave Vessella’s unique sound is reminiscent of traditional New Orleans music and west coast jazz a la Chet Baker. Vessella has played at the Detroit Jazz Festival and the Panama Jazz Festival with Wayne State University and Danilo Perez, Walter White’s Big Band at the Michigan Jazz Festival, The Detroit Pistons house band and many more within Detroit, Chicago, and Los Angeles. This heavy influence of Louis Armstrong lead to Miles Davis, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and more, which has anchored him deep in the tradition of jazz and blues. Dave holds a M.M. from Wayne State University and a B.A. in Jazz Studies from Columbia College Chicago. You can catch him every 2nd and 4th Thursday at Marge’s Bar in Grosse Pointe at one of the longest running continuous traditional jazz gigs in the country.
